PLURALS IN ENGLISH

Le plus souvent : ajouter un « s »

A girl => girls A boy => boys

A father =>fathers A day => days

An actor => actors A piano => pianos

An orange => oranges A jacket=> jackets

Si le nom se termine par -s, -sh, -ch, -x => « es »

A bus => buses A watch =>watches

a church => churches

a brush => brushes a box => boxes

Certains noms qui se terminent en -o ont un pluriel en « es »

A tomato => tomatoes

A potato => potatoes

Si le nom se termine par : consonne+y => « IES »

A diary => diaries

A family => families

A nationality => nationalities

Si le nom se termine par -f => « ves »

A knife => knives a half => halves

A wife => wives a shelf => shelves

Il y a des pluriels irréguliers

A child => children

A woman => women A man => men

A tooth => teeth A foot => feet

Il y a des noms qui sont toujours pluriel (interdiction de mettre « a » devant !!)

clothes jeans

trousers shorts

glasses mathematics

scissors

Il y a des noms qui ne se mettent jamais au pluriel

Bread : du pain tea : du thé cheese : du fromage jam : de la confiture

Soup : de la soupe snow : de la neige water : de l’eau
